Youth Ethnographic Field School

New to Kosrae HPO, our office will host a youth ethnographic field school with Kosrae HPO staff and Kosrae State Cultural Anthropologist, Ms. Ashley Meredith, for an intensive ethnographic survey on ethnozoology in Kosrae! For our inaugural youth ethnographic field school, join us with our volunteer guest anthropologist Dr. David Fazzino from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. 

In an intensive two week training session, from June 25 until July 6, 2018, Kosrae High School juniors learn about the work of Kosrae Historic Preservation Office and applications of ethnographic field work from the eyes of an anthropologist! Together we discover the cultural knowledge about Kosrae’s terrestrial and marine animals while maintaining Kosraean cultural values of pilenfong (night stories, traditional method of sharing oral histories) with their elders!
